I took a classic Rice Krispies treat recipe and swapped the Rice Krispies with Lucky Charms.

  • Butter. I used salted butter, but you can use unsalted.
  • Marshmallows. I used the Jet Puffed brand. I do find that they work best vs a few of the store bought brands I have tried in the past. You can use mini marshmallows too.
  • Lucky Charms Cereal. I grabbed a special edition Lucky Charms Honey Cloves but you can use regular.
  • Sprinkles of choice. I used gold and green.

How to Make Lucky Charms Marshmallow Treats

Make the marshmallow mixture

To start, melt the butter in a large pot over low heat. Add the marshmallows and stir until they are completely melted and combined with the butter. The butter may start to brown, and that’s okay. Just be sure to stir often to prevent the sugar from burning to the bottom of the pan.

Once it’s melted, remove the pan from the burner, add the Lucky Charms cereal, and sprinkles, and stir gently until the cereal is completely coated with the marshmallow mixture.

Recipe Note

Keep in mind that the cereal marshmallows will melt slightly in the heat. The color will run a bit, but it will taste delicious. When the treats are set, they will be a little crunchier than classic Rice Krispies treats and my guess is it has something to do with the marshmallows in the cereal.

Setting the Lucky Charms treats

Next, pour the mixture into a greased baking dish (I used avocado oil but you can use cooking spray too) and press it down evenly using a spatula or your hands.

Sprinkle the rest of the gold sprinkles over top.

Put the treats aside to cool and set, I checked on them after an hour. Then use a sharp knife to cut them into squares or any desired shapes with a cookie cutter.
